The department celebrates the achievements of six English faculty members and graduate students who have received fellowship awards from the Humanities Research Institute (HRI).
Faculty recipients of the HRI Campus Fellowship include Dr. Eleanor Courtemanche for her project titled, “Fragile Capitalism: The Long Afterlife of Victorian Crisis,” and Dr. Sandra Ruiz for “Minoritarian Pedagogy: Psychoanalytic Affections in the Space of Aesthetics.”
HRI Campus Fellowships were also awarded to PhD Candidates Erin Grogan for their project titled, “Cruising Dystopia: Queer Futurity and Toxic Temporalities in the Anthropocene” and Jessica Witte for “The Fasting Girl: A Literary, Digital, and Medical History of Anorexia from the Novel to the Clinic (1740–1900).”
HRI Summer Faculty Research Fellowships were awarded to Dr. Christopher Kempf for his projects, “All These Ithacas” and Local Color, as well as Dr. Andrea Stevens for “Racial Masquerade and the Caroline Court, 1625-1649.”
